Google answers to the universal Like button of Facebook by introducing +1 button. Yes, they have done this on 31st March and it does not seems to be an April Fool prank unlike yesteryears.
Google for some time to compete in the social web, but has not fared too well (anyone still using Wave or Buzz ?). This morning Google has unveiled a new layer in your main service, your web browser and they have called " +1 ". Simple and direct.
What is +1?
To me, the concept is a mix of Digg and Like. The idea is that when we do a Google search, we recommend the links that we find interesting and which we think may be helpful to others, by clicking on the icon "+1", as a "vote" (more or less similar to the “Like” button in Facebook ). Thus, the links "voted" start to appear in search results of others you are some way connected ( an explanatory video here .)
Do you think it is interesting, then start using it today.
First of all, you have to activate this feature. The prerequisite is to have a Google account (you already have Gmail? that’s good!) and create your profile (did you have? much better!).
Now we come to the home page of Google Search Experiments and enable (to click the button "Join this experiment") to "+1 button."
Enable Google Button +1
Now you can go to Google search and search as you normally would, except that now your results will be accompanied by the icon "+1."
You could see the +1 button just next to your search results. At the first use, it will prompt you to add your links shared "+1" in your Google Profile, where the most appropriate response is to accept (click on "Confirm and +1).
Now in your Google Profile will be able to see the links you shared.
Does this experiment will bring any good to Google in their attempt to be in the social league? Share your thoughts with us.
