7 Things you need to know about Google Buzz

Google Buzz was sudden wave trying to go beyond all the other social networks. Inspite of the privacy issues it had on launch, Buzz is trying to bring the best in other social networks. We can share photos, messages and may be later on using Google Maps, it could even be the next Location based social network. In short it is a one-stop for all things social!
Here are 7 things that you need to know about Buzz :

  1. Accessing Buzz
    You can access Buzz though your Gmail. It is visible on the left side menu. You can also access it from your mobile device. buzz.google.com will help you to get started
  2. Post on Buzz
    A photo or a link can be inserted in your post. You can comment, Like/Un-like or email posts and also “Reply by Chat” if the author of the post is available. You can edit or delete a post , if its your own. You can also “Mute a Post”, which means to remove it from your stream. If there is a new activity in that post which we muted, it won’t show up in your stream. You can also use @ to reply to a person and that post would be available in that person’s inbox.
  3. Formating on Buzz
  4. To make a sentence Bold, add an asterix sign before and after it. To strike though, add a hyphen – before and after the words. Use underscores _ to make it italicized.
    Eg. *Bold Sentence* – Strike Thorough – _Italics_

  5. Privacy on Buzz
  6. You can make your post public, which is visible to everyone on the web or you can post as private. If you are choosing your post to be private, you can keep it private within a group of friends. You can either choose to show the list of your followers and the list of people you follow on your google profile or choose not to show it. This could be done on your going to the Buzz tab on your google settings.


  7. Unfollow / Block on Buzz
  8. You can Unfollow or Block a person on Buzz. For this you need to click on the “Followers” links on the top of the Buzz page, and then you need to click on the profile of the person you need  to Unfollow or Block.


    There you have options to Unfollow or Block the person.

  9. Connected Sites on Buzz
  10. You can link Picasa, Google Reader, Blogger, Flickr, twitter and any other website to Google Buzz. To see the connected sites click on the “Connected Sites” link on the top of the Buzz page. There you can choose what sites are to be connected with Google Buzz and also you can set the visibility to Private or Public.

  11. Disable Google Buzz
  12. If you want to disable buzz , go down to the bottom of the screen, and click on “turn off buzz” link, which switches it off or you can again go to the google settings and click “Disable Google Buzz” link.
